Decades of Making a Difference
For over 60 years, United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island has been inspiring people to get involved in and support issues and Vancouver Island communities they care about through giving, volunteering and advocacy.
Connected Across Canada
United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island is one of 79 local United Ways across the country. Each local United Way is registered as its own non-profit organization and governed by an independent volunteer-led local Board of Directors. Each United Way works locally to understand the needs, raise funds and invest in improving lives in local communities.
All local United Ways are members of the United Way movement and United Way Canada Centraide (UWCC) is the national organization that connects this national network of local experts. UWCC ensures that all United Ways in Canada follow standards including these values:
- Demonstrate trust, integrity, respect, inclusivity and transparency
- Energize and inspire volunteerism and volunteer leadership
- Endorse innovation, partnerships and collective action
- Provide non-partisan leadership
- Embrace diversity
