All That Kids Can Be
What do we know?
Many kids and youth in our community face challenges whether because of bullying, mental health issues, a death in a family or the lack of healthy adult role models.
Every dollar invested in a child today saves many dollars down the road in social assistance, health and criminal justice costs.
By investing in children and youth we are helping build a better life today, and tomorrow. United Way is working to ensure every infant grows into a healthy child, that every child has access to the support they need to succeed and that every young person makes a successful transition into adulthood.
Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are often behind their peers in terms of school readiness, a key fact in school achievement and later in life.
We work to improve access to supports like early childhood learning, parenting programs, and mental health support and youth leadership development.
We know that connecting young people to opportunities for success is crucial to building a better future on Vancouver Island.
In the long-term, we are supporting programs that remove barriers to education and employment by helping children and youth do well in school, graduate and make a successful transition into post-secondary education and employment.
